"Pupils are proud of their school. They respect their teachers and appreciate that they help them to achieve their best. They feel very safe because they know that adults listen to them and care about them. OFSTED 2020"

Parents

Parent Teacher Association

The Parent Teacher Association is a group of parents/guardians and staff who regularly meet voluntarily, at least once a term,  to discuss and organise fun and exciting activities for the children and parents of the school to enjoy.

PTA meetings are either held face-to-face or via Zoom and everyone is welcome to attend.  We actively welcome and encourage new ideas and suggestions - the more the merrier!  The longevity and success of the PTA is only possible with volunteers!  All our events are advertised on our website www.pta-events.co.uk/westhaddonpta and we have an active private Facebook page - West Haddon Primary School PTA.

Our main objective is to build closer relations between parents/guardians and teachers whilst raising funds to support our primary school and nursery.  Funds raised are used to provide much needed resources and facilities to benefit the children and staff of the school.  Previously the PTA worked closely with the school to support the build of the spectacular school sports hall, provide musical instruments and give a yearly donation to the Year 6 leavers.  Most recently, the PTA have supported the school very closely with updating their outside learning space to give the children the best facilities and apparatus to support them in play and structured learning.  We designed and fundraised for a solid wooden castle that now stands proudly at the top of our school field and next to it the new, brightly coloured fixed play that has been completely replaced and loved by the children from Nursery all the way up to Year 6!

Like most charities, our fundraising has been drastically affected by COVID-19 but, as a committee, we are dedicated to continue to run events where we can safely, to enable us to support the school.  The PTA at West Haddon Primary School continues to be a fundamental part of the the school community and, despite the obstacles we have faced over the past two years, we still consider ourselves to be successful thanks to the support from the school, children, parents and guardians.  Throughout these trying times, our events have had to be changed and adapted, of which some of the new events have even become firm favourites with the school. Our most recent events have included Krispy Kreme doughnut sales, pumpkins for Halloween, Mother's Day flower sale... to name a few.

We are a friendly, small group of like minded people wanting to make a positive difference.  If you would like to get involved with the PTA, volunteer your help at forthcoming events, or make any suggestions regarding future events, then please contact the school office where your details will be passed to the PTA Chairperson.
